Weekly Wrap Up

5 Apr

I’m back from my overnight excursion to Philly celebrating turning 40 with one of my oldest and dearest friends. I had an amazing time hanging out with my friend of 28 years, relaxing at the spa and enjoying some good food. The massage … let’s just say that my new best friend is Lauren from Rescue Spa in Rittenhouse Square. Seriously, it was THE BEST massage I have ever had in my life. If you are ever in the Philadelphia area and in need of a great massage, please book Lauren over at Rescue.

We wined, we dined and we were in bed by 9:30. Yes, we’re 40. 🙂 But, the 2:30 am bar crowd was LOUD! Lots of yelling, a fight or two and why, why, why were all of those cars honking at 3 in the morning??? This went on for a good hour and a half. I am so tired right now.

This morning we headed down to the Schuylkyll to run down Kelly Drive, past the Art Museum and Boat House Row to Manayunk and back. A good 10 mile run that included a little bit of walking because I got so overheated from the sun beating down on me. The first couple of warm runs in the Spring are always tough until your body acclimates to the heat. It was a great run, Lisa is definitely faster than me and I ended up pushing my pace a little faster than I want to at this moment in time. We ended up with 10.2 miles at 9:23 pace.

My weekly wrap up:

5 Runs – 24.46 miles (avg. pace: 9:37)
3 Bikes – 25.75 miles (avg. pace: 2:46)
4 Weights – 45 minutes
1 Walk – 1 mile
1 Half Marathon Circuit

The week ahead: I’m looking forward to only one easy weight session, a light running week and some easy biking.

Your weekend sounds heavenly! I’m like that too – in bed early even on nights out.

Hey Jill! Happy 40th! I live in the Philadelphia area, just on the other side of the river. I should check out Rescue Spa. I could use a massage.Nice run! I have yet to run in Philly. I’d love the scenery.

Hey Jill, just wanted to drop by and say thanks for following The Running Shoe podcast. My Thursday nights have been particularly busy the past month but shows will be back on track as of this week.Happy 40th! I’ve noticed that, ‘the older I get…the older “young” gets’. Don’t forget that Pracilla Welch won the New York City Marathon at the age of 42. It only gets better from here.Cheers, – Bruce–Bruce MurrayHost of The Zedcasthttp://www.zedcast.com- -Host of The Running ShoeOn The TalkShoe Network. TalkCast ID 30943http://www.TheRunningShoe.net

Cindi – it was heavenly. But you just had a “Girls Weekend”, too. Isn’t it awesome just hanging with the girlfriends?Hey Christie, I haven’t seen you in a while. That was my first massage in 3 years. 3 years!! At the very least I should go once a year as a treat to myself. Bruce – thanks for stopping by. I can’t wait for some new shows!

Hi! I am loving your blog!!!! How did you customize your header??? 🙂 Thanks for the comment!!! You’re really making me want to go get a massage!! 🙂 Have you ever seen a sports massage specialist? I’m thinking for my next massage I might check one out to see how different the approach is. Sounds like you have a relaxing week ahead- enjoy! and Happy Belated Birthday 🙂

Lacey – Thanks! No, I have never been to a sports massage therapist. I think I've only ever had 3 or 4 massages before this last one. Something to consider in the future though. It's really easy to create a customized header. You just create your own image in a photo program with the appropriate dimensions for your blog template. Then, you go into the Layout > Page Elements tab, click the edit link for the header and upload your image and click the radio button for "Instead of title and description".
